Some of you know that I had another eye appointment at the hospital on Thursday. The scar tissue was removed by laser, which was fairly painless. I might see a difference in a couple of days but there was talk about it taking six weeks.

AAAGGHHRRR!

No change so far. I’ve always said I was on this earth to learn patience and so it remains. I shall keep smiling and laughing. Because that’s what I do!

And now to the real point of the post.

About a year ago, dear Marilyn of MKG- Memories-Keepsakes-Gifts bought one of my prints from Crated. She has now found the perfect frame, as above, and it’s going to look fabulous in her new kitchen. Thank you, Marilyn, for posting about it.

However, took a while for me to realise to whom she was referring:

I first represented this as “Lillian Vernon”… my mistake!… That name always comes to mind when reading Sarah’s Blog… I had read and heard of “Lillian Verno…

Anyone who is friends with me on Facebook will have seen the photograph below. For anyone else, it just so happens that I bought the same print as Marilyn about six weeks ago from Redbubble and with a frame.

As you can see, it hangs above my kitchen sink. I get such a kick out of it. I’m pretty smitten also with my black tap with a white handle, which is from Ikea and the best and easiest mechanism I’ve ever tried.

It replaces what I thought was a beautifully sinuous — apparently very expensive — chrome tap installed by the previous owner but it was a painful ordeal for my fingers.

And that’s it for now.

Following on from yesterday’s Pot-Pourri Duvet Cover, I give you the “Birdcage Blossom Duvet Cover”, and a photo of it in situ below as I bought it for myself and couldn’t be more delighted.

In other news, the ophthalmology appointment came through yesterday morning and I’ll be seeing the specialist on 10th November. Thank you once more for your amazing support during the gritted-teeth period. Talking of teeth … no, you don’t’ want to know!

I’ve put my money where my mouth is, bought some cushions with my designs from Redbubble and discovered the difficulty of matching colours when comparing an original design, the computer and the reality. Which of the cushions were going to work against my Duck Egg Blue sofas (Laura Ashley). In the photograph above you can see a perfect match between the charity buy cushion on the left and a does it?-doesn’t it? match with my Petite Rose Confection cushion on the right.

The photograph — iPhone — distorts the colour of the sofa which is a more elegant Duck Egg crossed with Eau de Nil than the rather dull greyish-green above. The charity cushion works perfectly whether in electric light, sunlight or grey light,  as does the Petite Rose Confection.

img_0487

In this second photograph, it looks as if Hummingbird Tune is out of step with the sofa but it actually works in all lights, just not the photograph!img_0488

The Georgian Stripes Duck Egg as above, which I designed specifically for these sofas, doesn’t work at all, least of all in the photograph, except in electric light! I’m going to have to design some more stripes that are a better match. I had originally wanted the sofas in the regency stripes that Laura Ashley were selling. However, between creating and saving the sofas to my wish list and actually going into the store to order, the company discontinued the fabric. I do love what I ended up choosing but I want stripes in there somewhere!

I’ll keep you posted.

It’s not often I think my photography is good enough for public consumption, which is why I so often play around with it using textures and the like. In this instance, I surprised myself by liking it enough to let it stand. Who’d ‘ave thunk!

It was with this bunch of roses that I christened my new home. Bought on Friday from the local supermarket, they don’t have much of a fragrance but they sure as hell look good.

Lulu in Hollywood Card

Reposting the incomparable Tallulah yesterday gave me a taste for creating another of my Hollywood images à la Edward Steichen. I found an image of silent film star Louise Brooks from Hello-Tuesday and used the vintage wallpaper from MGB Stock that I’ve used previously (DeviantArt). It is, I believe, a still from Pandora’s Box (1929) — ‘The rise and inevitable fall of an amoral but naïve young woman whose insouciant eroticism inspires lust and violence in those around her.’ This time, however, I have done it slightly differently and given her a background of the wallpaper in its original form. The effect of this can be better seen if you click on Saatchi Art or  Fine Art America.

“By the way, I adore my bedroom, but do you think I could have the curtains washed? I believe they are red; and I should so like to make sure.’
Judith had sunk into a reverie.
‘Curtains?’ she asked, vacantly, lifting her magnificent head. ‘Child, child, it is many years since such trifles broke across the web of my solitude’.”
Stella Gibbons, Cold Comfort Farm

I’m delighted to say that 2016 has begun with the news that I have sold a metal print of Burnished Tigers at Redbubble. I’ve never sold a metal print before – it feels rather good!

What doesn’t feel good is the continuing danger to so many species on this earth, not least our own.

‘A hundred years ago there were 100,000 tigers in the wild. Today there are as few as 3,200.’

‘As more and more forests are cleared for paper and palm oil, tiger habitat disappears daily.’

Save Tigers Now is a global campaign by World Wildlife Fund and Leonardo DiCaprio. Our goal is to build political, financial and public support to double the number of wild tigers by 2022, the next Year of the Tiger.’
