What a man he was: brilliant to the point of madness and beyond, quite possibly and at the same time one of the most sane and far sighted people who have graced the planet. In short a hard man to pigeon-hole but a fascinating figure non the less.

Indeed. He was so much a part of my childhood, as was Dali, not because my parents particularly introduced me to their work but because both of them seemed to be on the television all the time, whether in the news or in documentaries. Who can compare these days?
