Marlon James (Jamaica): A Brief History of Seven Killings (Oneworld)
The first Jamaican writer to be nominated for the Booker, James’s third novel, told in a multitude of voices, builds on the attempted assassination of Bob Marley in 1976 to tell the story of Jamaica over three decades: the guns and corruption, the drugs and the music. “Like a Tarantino remake of The Harder They Come but with a soundtrack by Bob Marley and a script by Oliver Stone and William Faulkner”, said the New York Times.

I have to get this…..I am a huge fan of the great Bob Marley…Thank you for the recommendation.
I also enjoy Anne Tyler’s work. As with most people my only problem is time…our most precious commodity. Keep smiling, Sarah:)x

Yup. I love Anne Tyler’s work too, although there came a point at which I found them all very ‘samey’ and stopped buying. I might buy this one, though. I’m struck by the thought of the Marlon James and that’s definitely going on the list. I haven’t even looked at the remainder of the long list!

I also love Anne Tyler’s books. I’ve read one of Marilynne Robinson’s novels in the series and enjoyed it, but I would have to re-read again…
