Émile Vernon (1872-1919) – Art Bacchant

An Auburn Beauty

I am sure that the artist Émile Vernon and I must be related somewhere along the line! My father’s side of the family came over with William the Conqueror from a place called Vernon in France. I’m doing research on my family tree so I’ll let you know!

        1. I thought that was probably what you meant but I didn’t want to assume! From the little research I’ve done this afternoon, it looks as if the whole of Normandy was settled by Vikings so you’re absolutely right.

          1. Sorry to be ambiguous. I was in a hurry to get out to a family wedding. Now my whole family of five is crammed into a hotel room. So I’d better stop typing and let them sleep. 🙂 Family legend has it that we are descended from William the Conquerer, but my grandmother’s joy was diminished when I told her that he was called William the Bastard, first. I’ve always taken an interest in stories about that region since I heard the legend. Cheers.
