Incisive and thought-provoking writing from Tish.
I was also born and brought up in the 50s. Coal fires, smog, Iron Lungs, and frequent child mortality. A crumbling Empire, and shameful acts by our own government. Yet there was also much to cherish. Innocence, to some degree; fertile imagination, reading, closer families, and the fostering of individual responsibility, alongside good manners, and respect for others.

A most enjoyable article indeed.
Best wishes, Pete.,
