― Virginia Woolf, To the Lighthouse
I’ve been at it again with lighthouses. I do love them. If I had my way, I’d live in a lighthouse. Mind you, it would have to have a special lift all the way up to the top. I envy anyone I read about who buys and renovates a lighthouse as a family home. Heaven!
The original photograph is one I took last month when my niece was staying. It’s the lighthouse that juts out from the Venetian Harbour in Chania which is twenty minutes away from our home in Crete. I plan to make this available for sale also.

Great image Sarah and I love the before and after effect – those textures look terrific! I have the same ‘thing’ for water towers too!

I’d like to live in a lighthouse, too, Sarah! We have many here on the coast of southern New England, but I’d so love to visit yours! 💕💕💕

Come over, Martha, and then we’ll go and visit Lottie in Andalusia as well!

Don’t hate me. I holidayed with friends in a lighthouse once. It was living a dream. Funny I don’t remember the rooms, but there was a second floor with two beds. I don’t know where the family of three slept. There must have been another room on the main floor other than the main room we watch videos when it rained. Thank you for bringing back this memory. ❤

I don’t hate you (much) but I’m very envious!

It w.a.s. about 20 years ago… does that count for something? 😮

Sorry. I want to comment on your photo. I love it. Such a small island. Must be battered by sea / ocean water during storms.

When it’s stormy, the lighthouse and the harbour front get the worst of it. The lighthouse, as far as I know, is unmanned so maybe I could get squatters’ rights! So glad you like the images.

That’s the first thing I thought of, the pounding of the water. So many lighthouses now, I hear, are unmanned. Do you suppose they use camera’s or something?

Beautiful. Yes, lighthouses have something. Hope? Guide? And they are always (for evident reasons) in incredible spots. Must remember to visit that one in the future.

I think it’s also their air of mystery from the tales one has heard over the years, not least the story of Grace Darling. I’m very pleased you find it beautiful, Olga.

Once again I’m in awe of your designs, this stands right up there with all the rest. Awesome way to set the lighthouse up – a deep rich setting that provides mystery and drama to the scene. Love this one!

How do you decide which lighthouses to blog about?

At the moment it’s always the lighthouse in Chania when I’ve taken a photograph and create a new piece of art. I’ve always loved lighthouses.

Lighthouses are so majestic! You’re right…they would have to get a lift for me too to get to the top!!

This is a very true statement about ones faith. Do we let our light shine? Do we have a light?
