“Gently the waves would break (Lily heard them in her sleep); tenderly the light fell (it seemed to come through her eyelids). And it all looked, Mr. Carmichael thought, shutting his book, falling asleep, much as it used to look years ago.”
― Virginia WoolfTo the Lighthouse

I’ve been at it again with lighthouses. I do love them. If I had my way, I’d live in a lighthouse. Mind you, it would have to have a special lift all the way up to the top. I envy anyone I read about who buys and renovates a lighthouse as a family home. Heaven!

The original photograph is one I took last month when my niece was staying. It’s the lighthouse that juts out from the Venetian Harbour in Chania which is twenty minutes away from our home in Crete. I plan to make this available for sale also.

  1. Don’t hate me. I holidayed with friends in a lighthouse once. It was living a dream. Funny I don’t remember the rooms, but there was a second floor with two beds. I don’t know where the family of three slept. There must have been another room on the main floor other than the main room we watch videos when it rained. Thank you for bringing back this memory. ❤

  2. Beautiful. Yes, lighthouses have something. Hope? Guide? And they are always (for evident reasons) in incredible spots. Must remember to visit that one in the future.

  3. Once again I’m in awe of your designs, this stands right up there with all the rest. Awesome way to set the lighthouse up – a deep rich setting that provides mystery and drama to the scene. Love this one!
