Created with my own photographs and scanned ephemera blended with a vintage architectural drawing from The Graphics Fairy.
‘There is no abstract art. You must always start with something. Afterward you can remove all traces of reality.’ Pablo Picasso
Accidental Abstract Greeting Card
‘The surrealists, and the modern movement in painting as a whole, seemed to offer a key to the strange postwar world with its threat of nuclear war. The dislocations and ambiguities, in cubism and abstract art as well as the surrealists, reminded me of my childhood in Shanghai.’ J. G. Ballard

Much thanks, Janet! I’m so glad you like it. I’m never sure about my abstracts but this one has been doing well in the galleries in terms of comments. Keep smiling and Happy Weekend! xx

I think this is one of those pieces that you could keep looking at and finding new meanings in… It also looks fabulous. Thanks, Sarah.

I love that idea! I think I may make fabric with some of my dad’s famous blueprints from the 50’s-70’s. The ancient times before CAD!;)

You must indeed do that! What was your father’s name?

He’s not famous. Just a very inventive mechanical engineer that designed some early snowmobiles, heavy machinery, (bobcat) and experimental aircraft.

Wow! Have you written about him on your blog? I’d love to know about the experimental aircraft.

Unusual indeed, and a great colour combination for blending in with many themes.

I have. Let’s be honest – most of my work is accidental! Thanks, Mandy.
