Don’t ask me why but the fact that there is no way to comment on this post is obviously a WP glitch.  It’s certainly not intentional. All my settings are as they should be to allow for comments so the WP gremlin strikes again. Thank you, Pete Johnson, for letting me know.

What a surprise! More cushions. I can own up to all except for Humpty Dumpty, which is a delightful illustration by Mr FND — do check out his  pantomime drawings.

My favourite mouse silhouette! The dinky little thing has done good and sold herself several times over as address labels.

And for my next post, I shall tell you that a global hotel conglomerate has ordered a million cushions, and a well-known stationery chain has requested countless boxes of notebooks. In which case, the world is my oyster!

First Night Design

I have had a relaxing Sunday morning creating new cushions for my store and enjoying every moment of it. There are certain products available at Zazzle to which I enjoy adding my art more  than others.  Cushions — or pillows, I understand, if you’re from the US — are one such. This may be because my life depends on cushions if I am to avoid serious pain and discomfort. It may also be because cushions do so much to alter a room. After all, it’s cheaper than painting or decorating if you long for a change!

No post planned. No time to do much so this is the cushion I sold today. Looks rather good on other products too, though I say so myself as shouldn’t!

What can I say? I’m exhausted. The internet connection is so bad that I’ve decided to give up making the immense effort needed to simply ‘like’ blog posts or do anything much except prepare a post or two and reblog on First Night History and Rogues & Vagabonds. Ever heard of the expression ‘getting blood out of stone’? The good news is that the next bandwidth month starts on 8th February so expect a flurry of activity! There will be no flurry, mind you, if all this is the fault of the service provider and continues beyond the 8th. My thoughts are unprintable.

Meanwhile—

Someone has bought three cushion covers with The Swan Also Rises design. Occasionally life is good in the middle of technical despair!

A direct contrast to the feel of yesterday’s Song for Freedom, Land, Ho! is another design from a few years ago that centres on my photograph of an abandoned fishing boat in Nea Chora in Chania on the island of Crete, and to which I added textures from Shadowhouse Creations.

To say ‘abandoned’ is, perhaps, to stretch the truth since one sees many apparently abandoned boats  (and houses) on this island that have not been abandoned but have been worked on for years without any sign of improvement! When it comes to the dilapidated houses, it can be assumed that the owners are a disparate collection of family members who have inherited the property and who can’t agree on what should be done with it. It is so sad to see them going by the board as they are often three or four hundred years-old and beautiful examples of Venetian or Ottoman Empire architecture.

Quick update: We have been given a separate keyboard for the computer on loan and discovered that no one was able to connect to the internet yesterday because of the weather in this part of Crete including rarely-seen snow in Chania!

It will take quite a while to catch up with all the lovely comments you’ve left since the end of November so please bear with me and forgive me if my responses are limited to ‘liking’. I suspect that if I reply to all of you, I will never get back on track!

In the meantime, here are a couple of cushions I sold in the lead-up to Christmas.

The bad news – oh yes, there’s always bad news in my life! – my glasses, which admittedly don’t work brilliantly while I’m waiting for the cataract operation, have gone AWOL so that I’m having to screw up my good eye in order to read. C’est la vie.

Valley Rose

This weekend I have been creating products at my First Night Design store on Zazzle with the Valley Rose design and enjoying it immensely.  I hadn’t planned a post today but I was so taken with the look of the Messenger bag that I wanted to share it.  (I can hear my late mother saying, ‘Get you! What makes you think you’re so clever?’)

Regular visitors will be familiar with my penchant for seeing my art on cushions. I’ve been at it again with some of the recent additions to my portfolio. Enjoy!
