This sale was a surprise as it’s a long time since I sold anything with this image.

Getting more and more tired the further away I am from the wisdom tooth extraction. Odd.

The good news? The lasering-of-the-scar-tissue-in-left-eye appointment has come through for 26th January.

5779126-LTo celebrate festive traditions, here is an excerpt from The Book of Christmas descriptive of the Customs, Ceremonies, Traditions, Superstitions, Fun, Feeling, and Festivities of the Christmas Season (1836) by Victorian poet and critic Thomas Kibble Hervey (1799 – 1859).

“Boxing-day is still a great day in London. Upon this anniversary, every street resounds with the clang of hall-door knockers. Rap follows rap, in rapid succession, the harsh and discordant tones of iron mingling with those of rich and sonorous brass, and giving a degenerate imitation of the brazen clangor of the trumpet, which formed the summons to the gate in days of old, and which, together with the martial music of the drum, appears to have been adopted, at a later period, by the Christmas-boxers, on St. Stephen’s Day. Vintage Carriage for New Year Mug
Vintage Carriage for New Year Mug by FirstNightDesign

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys have prepared a 2014 annual report for First Night Design, as is their wont each year.

Here’s a taster:

‘The concert hall at the Sydney Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 20,000 times in 2014. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 7 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.’

Sounds rather splendid, doesn’t it!

I know, I know, you’re thinking about Thanksgiving and Christmas and the last thing you want to think about is the New Year.  However, if you’re anything like me, it will suddenly be 26th January and you’re writing everything on Post-It notes — which you keep losing — and you still haven’t bought a calendar.  Computer calendars, it’s true, have a lot of uses but the device is never on when you need urgently to check the time of that dental appointment or the grand party you’ve been looking forward to.  And guess what?  You check your mobile and realise you didn’t sync it!

Here are my choices, which include my calendars as well as those that have caught my eye on Zazzle.
