A friend who lives in Paris sent me a picture of the ceiling of the Paris Opera, painted by Marc Chagall.  I have never been to Paris, let alone visited the Paris Opera!  I have to rectify this as soon as I can.  In the meantime, here it is for our delectation.

Paris Opera Ceiling by Marc Chagall

“On this day [23rd September] in 1964, the Paris Opera unveils a stunning new ceiling painted as a gift by Belorussian-born artist Marc Chagall, who spent much of his life in France. The ceiling was typical of Chagall’s masterpieces—childlike in its apparent simplicity yet luminous with color and evocative of the world of dreams and the subconscious.” Maxwell Potter Arts
