Can I see again? No, but there are odd moments of clearer vision that enable me to work in fits and starts. In this instance, I have come up with a collage, The Fruit Look.
“The only thing worse than being blind is having sight but no vision.”

Ephemera used to create this collage is from Design Cuts and the Biodiversity Library on Flickr.
I have not yet uploaded it to my galleries, except for Crated, but if you’re interested,, do bookmark the page and return in a few days for all the other links.

Mary, this is the new version in the hope it goes with my sofa and with your living room. (Yes, I remember your comment!) I’ve ordered one and will keep you (and everyone else, probably) posted!

Simple background of Georgian stripes, partly created for the cushions I want to buy for my new sofa!
By the way, I’ve been feeling a bit weary of late so I’m not sure how much of an appearance I shall be making this week on my blogs — except First Night History for which I have a backlog of drafts ready to publish — or visiting and liking all your posts. Please bear with me.

What do I call this? An abstract? A collage? I’m going for an ‘abstract collage’. It was playtime when I combined a texture layer from Kerstin Frank, a page of text with a clock from my 1920s Children’s Encyclopaedia, and owls and doric columns from The Graphics Fairy. I bet you didn’t guess there were owls in there!

Remembrance of Times Past
by Sarah Vernon
This post is purely because I wanted to show off one of my images in a frame as sold at Redbubble. Remembrance looks rather splendid surrounded by a cherry wood frame, don’t you think? Several other options are available. The image has been featured in no less than five groups on the art site which has surprised and delighted me.

Blue Bird of Happiness harks back to my early collages such as Postcard Kingfisher or Bird in the Hand for which I used vintage postcard backs with lovely squiggly handwriting. In this instance, I have layered several antique French papers (2 Lil’ Owls) at different angles, and added a bird and a Delphinium (The Graphics Fairy). That simple? No! A collage like this requires careful placement, colour changes and various blending modes until it works as whole.
Now, I know that a bluebird is a bluebird not a blue bird but I wanted mine to be different and so a blue bird it will remain! Although ‘the bluebird of happiness’ is a well-known phrase, I was actually thinking of my all-time favourite Gary Larson cartoon when I decided what to call the collage.
‘The Bluebird of Happiness long absent from his life, Ned was visited by the Chicken of Depression.’
