You may have realised I’ve been off the grid for the last few days. This is because I had my greatest friend staying and we had not seen each other for far too long. A glorious time was had by all! I am tired but happy and hope to be back to normal with all three blogs by Tuesday.

I have a passion for stationery, the more beautiful the better. Having said that, even a plain white envelope has a charm all its own.

Look at me, Ma — I have created something else out of The Fruit Look! A few subtractions, a few additions with the ephemera from Design Cuts and the Biodiversity Library on Flickr and I have done something different. It’s recycling if you will.

“We live in a disposable society. It’s easier to throw things out than to fix them. We even give it a name – we call it recycling.” Neil LaBute (playwright)

Can I see again? No, but there are odd moments of clearer vision that enable me to work in fits and starts. In this instance, I have come up with a collage, The Fruit Look.

“The only thing worse than being blind is having sight but no vision.”
Helen Keller [1880-1968]

Ephemera used to create this collage is from Design Cuts and the Biodiversity Library on Flickr.

I have not yet uploaded it to my galleries, except for Crated, but if you’re interested,, do bookmark the page and return in a few days for all the other links.

Make Me a Willow Cabin Valentine Postcard
Make Me a Willow Cabin Valentine Postcard

Make Me a Willow Cabin was created some time ago but I don’t think I’ve ever sold it as a greeting card or postcard or on anything, which is a shame. I’m rather fond of it.

‘Make me a willow cabin…,’ declares Viola to Olivia in Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night. Viola, disguised as Cesario, has been sent by Orsino to declare his love for Olivia. Viola, however, chooses to give the message in her own way, telling Olivia that if he, Cesario, were in love with her, he would go much further than simply send a go-between.

Vintage apples from The Graphics Fairy and textures from 2 Lil’ Owls. I haven’t uploaded it for sale yet but I thought you might like it, particularly Mary of Oil Pastels for Mary as we were talking about doing something like Copper Pear. I told her I could never repeat a particular kind of beauty!

Do you think I need to make the apples greener? I’ve been farting about with it forever and I’m still not sure.

Discreet French Charm

A change of pace to show you this charming vintage French advertising image, presumably to proclaim the delights of Saint Denis (see top of image), which comes from The Graphics Fairy. I enhanced the original and added the almond green border.

One this day in 1839, the Post-Impressionist artist Paul Cézanne was born. To celebrate the event, I have started selling prints and greeting cards of his Still Life with Apples and a Pot of Primroses

Still Life with Apples and a Pot of Primroses is on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and is one of only two works in which the artist painted  primroses. The other, Pot of Primroses and Fruit, can be seen at the Courtauld Gallery in London.

Take care and keep laughing!
