I just adore anything skew-wiff!
Whether due to construction errors, shifting ground, or just the accumulated weight of time, buildings all over the world have become crooked masterpieces. We look at a few of the most whimsical examples…

They’re great, and yet they get very little value from the official tourist boards. I used to know someone who had an old farm house, all strange angles and low doorways, but was seen as poor due to the lack of standard dimensions, teas maids etc. Ridiculous. Each of these buildings is unique and defiant of the laws of physics.

How ludicrous. The powers that be can’t see treasure even if it’s stuffed up their noses as well as in front of them.

Tourism is heavily loaded by health and safety & trouser presses

Can’t beat the quirkiness of those crooked buildings, Sarah. The only one I have actually seen is the one in Amsterdam.
Best wishes, Pete. x

Oh yes, I love these too. I used to live, for a time, in Rye in Sussex which had plenty of charming and odd shaped buildings 🙂

Oh, lovely Rye. My aunt and uncle used to live nearby and my uncle had a boat brokerage business in Rye.

There are some VERY crooked buildings here but, like the post says, they do have a certain amount of charm. Some of them seem to defy gravity!

I certainly find them a lot more charming than, say, the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

I’m glad I didn’t have to fit that door into place.
