I fell in love a couple of weeks ago. The object of my affection was an autochromatic print of roses from a family garden in New South Wales dated 1909. I knew that I didn’t want to muck about with it in my usual fashion but only to clean up the dust and scratches and enhance the dusty pink with a peach overlay.
“It is the time you have wasted for your rose that makes your rose so important.”
― Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, The Little Prince
“Some people grumble that roses have thorns; I am grateful that thorns have roses.”
― Alphonse Karr, A Tour Round My Garden

I can understand that you didn’t want to alter it. This picture touched my heart and I can’t say why.

How lovely, Cynthia. Thank you. The original is more pink but I wanted a richer, more peachy tone, hence the texture underlay.

Very suitable for Mother’s Day, and the hint and feel of ‘yesteryear’ makes it even nicer. Very good work, Sarah.
Best wishes, Pete. x

I just find it amazing that the emotions we feel when we look at these vintage creations must be very similar to those we have no knowledge of, and are long gone, who first looked at them. Men pass but emotions remain to be transferred over generations

And I think we love looking at old images because it reminds us of gentler times as far as society goes.
