I’ve made no secret about my vintage Doctor Who fandom on this blog. Recent comments by comedian John Cleese reminded me when he made an art-related appearance on the legendary television series in 1979.
For his brief dialogue, story editor Douglas Adams served up a piece of art babble worthy of Vogon poetry status. Cleese and actress Eleanor Bron give the Doctor’s time machine, the Tardis, a critique that could straight out of Saatchi gallery press release. I always had a ‘thing’ for Eleanor Bron when I was younger. I was never much of a Dr Who fan though, but this clip is very amusing.

I had some unusual crushes. As well as Ms Bron, there was Carmen du Sautoy, and the striking Jaqueline Pearce. Especially in her role as Servalan, in ‘Blake’s 7’. (That one still works, even today…)

This happened to my mother and l studied how this occurs it’s due to removal other cataracts and it damages the lenses that’s the double vision problem eventually the brain learns to adapt thanks to God you are in my prayers for a safe and speedy recovery Ian 🙏
