Saint-Étienne Re-imagined © Sarah Vernon
As you know, I can never resist altering a modern photograph in order to give it a vintage feel. The original photograph of Saint Étienne Fontaine du Square Jean Cocteau in Paris is by Daniel Villafruela on Wikimedia which I have blended with textures from 2 Lil’ Owls.
“Mirrors should think longer before they reflect.”
― Jean Cocteau
“Be yourself. The world worships the original.”
― Jean Cocteau
“We must believe in luck. For how else can we explain the success of those we don’t like? ”
― Jean Cocteau

“The world worships the original” – I hope it still does!
I love the melting, mysterious colors of your photograph; my first impression was how much it reminded me of a work by Gustave Moreau.

The thing is, I always love a modern photograph given a vintage feel and the lovely timeless and atmospheric quality it gives to the picture, which is one of the reasons I enjoy your Blog so much

I’ve always been intrigued by Jean Cocteau and love his ‘La Belle et la B^ete’. Fascinating image. All the best.

You managed to change the mood and feel completely. No doubt this was your intention, and it worked very well.
Best wishes, Pete.

Thanks, Pete. I rarely have any intention in mind. I usually experiment until I like what I see in terms of colour and shape. I’ve often surprised myself completely!

Love the murky, mysterious feel to this one Sarah and I suspect that Cocteau chappie would have been a wow at a dinner party 😀 🙂

I love the depth of light and shade in the vintaged image. And as for the quotes – it’s good to laugh first thing on a Monday morning.
