First Night Design | Tallulah Bankhead — “pure as the driven slush”

New in my vintage store is this wonderful black & white portrait of Tallulah Bankhead.

“I’m as pure as the driven slush.”

“My father warned me about men and booze, but he never mentioned a word about women and cocaine.”

“The only thing I regret about my past is the length of it. If I had to live my life again, I’d make the same mistakes, only sooner.”

  1. I’ve never understood what happened to restrict women in film in the mid to late 20th century, because the actresses of the early 20th century were such strong personalities. Show me the modern actress who has the combination of guts and glamour found in Bette Davis, Tallulah Bankhead, Mae West, or Lauren Bacall.
Thank you for getting me thinking.
