First Night Design | To see a fine lady upon a white horse

Ride a cock-horse to Banbury Cross,
To see a fine lady upon a white horse;
Rings on her fingers and bells on her toes,
She shall have music wherever she goes.
by Mother Goose

I used a background from Kerstin Frank, one from EKDuncan, and the image of a beautifully embroidered costume from the Rijksmuseum. The fine lady on her white horse is from a scrapbook made for me when I was a child.

Take care and keep laughing!

  1. Beautiful, Sarah! My daughter, all grown up now, lived in the land of fairy tales and books when she was a child. I can picture this on her bedroom wall back then. (Or now!) Love it!

    1. Bless you, sweet Janet! I’d created the background and suddenly the rhyme came to me, having not thought of it for decades. That’s when I remembered the lady from my scrapbook.

  2. The whole image is stunning but how clever to use such a fantastic work of art as the embroidered costume.Had this been the 60’s I’d be asking for a short kaftan made out of that.

  3. A lot of planning aspects went into this piece Sarah – The embroidered costume is really neat and love the layers to the background – fits with the nursery theme perfectly. Happy Sunday to you ~
