First Night Design | Baby Elephant Learns to Walk & Astaire Learns to Dance

It doesn’t matter how often I watch this little video clip, it makes me laugh and empathise! The baby elephant shows the determination we all, or should, have. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off (or not, in the above case) and start all over again. It’s the only way to live life.

My laughter and my empathy are personal. My mobility is not what it was due to LcSSc so I feel more like a baby elephant trying to walk than a grown-up sure of his or her balance. I fall. I manage with quite an effort to get up and often need help. And down I fall again. So, little heffalump, I know what you’re going through. It will pass. Mine won’t! I only wish my hide was as tough as yours.

And now for a Sunday treat that makes the same point: two clips from Swing Time with Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers singing and dancing to Jerome Kern’s Pick Yourself Up.

Take care and keep laughing!

Sarah

  1. Thanks so much Sarah for sharing the three videos. Indeed never give up. You’re reminded me of how much I love these old musicals. So graceful… and they make it look very easy.
